The main objective of the International Hindi Teaching Department is to bring qualitative improvement in the teaching, training and study-teaching of Hindi language and literature in India and abroad and to introduce students to Hindi literature/language teaching and Hindi research techniques.

The department focuses primarily on research. Currently, it manages the ‘Hindi Lok Shabdkosh Project,’ which entails the publication of 18 dictionaries covering various Hindi dialects. Additionally, the department publishes ‘Gaveshana’, a research journal dedicated to linguistics. Under the ‘Panini Lecture Series,’ the department has initiated a program to invite eminent scholars from across the country to deliver lectures at the institute. Furthermore, the department is implementing a project titled "Role of AI in Mental Health and Inclusion in Higher Academic Institutions," funded by IIT Kanpur. Other projects and academic activities are also proposed for the future. At present, work is underway to compile a trilingual ‘Chhattisgarhi-Hindi-English’ dictionary as part of the ‘Hindi Lok Shabdkosh Project,’ while the compilation of dictionaries for Hariyanvi, Kannauji, Bagheli, Garhwali, and Magahi is also in progress.
